Where are the Bible commentaries?

Use HOLLIS Advanced Search to locate commentaries and critical works about specific biblical books and passages.

  • Search in "Library Catalog" rather than the default search for "Everything".

  • Choose "Subject contains" rather than the default "Keyword contains"

  • Enter three keywords:

    1. The word "Bible"

    2. The book of the bible you are studying (e.g., Exodus)

    3. The word "commentaries" or "interpretation" (example search for commentaries on Matthew)

  • Refine your results using filters for language, year, topic

  • Add additional keywords for more precision (e.g. postcolonial, Hermeneia, or feminist)
