How do I find authors who cite the text I'm studying?

To locate footnotes in scholarly journals, I use Citation Indexes/Web of Science (Harvard Login) 

Choose a "cited reference search" and carefully follow instructions for entering names and titles.  

To find footnotes in books, I recommend Harvard's Google Book Search.
