Harvard Divinity School Library Food and Drink Policy  

Drinks and snacks are allowed in the library with the following conditions:   

  • Consume drinks and snacks in designated areas, which include the first floor and study carrels on the lower level.   

  • No food on the second floor to accommodate patrons with allergies, respect religious observances, and maintain a quiet study space.  

  • All drinks must be securely capped or lidded to prevent spills and maintain cleanliness. No alcoholic drinks are permitted.   

  • Avoid noisy or messy drinks and snacks that may disrupt the quiet study environment.  

  • Dispose of trash appropriately in designated bins.  

  • Library staff may request that patrons put away any disruptive food or drinks.

  • The HDS Commons is an alternative space for eating and drinking.
