Is Harvard Divinity School Library open to visiting researchers?

Visitors may use the Harvard Divinity School Library in-person.  

  • Visitors must show a photo ID and sign our visitor log.
  • Visitors may access reading rooms for consulting general-use in-library materials. 
  • Visitors may use computers in the library space to access licensed digital resources.
  • Visitors may establish borrowing privileges only at Divinity with no fee at the circulation desk of the Divinity Library.
  • Visitors who wish to borrow books from multiple Harvard libraries may purchase a Library Borrowing Card  from Harvard Library's Access and Borrowing Office at Widener Library
  • Special collections are freely available and require registration.  Contact Research Services to make an appointment.
  •  Remote library services are available to anyone.

If you arrive in person to the Divinity School during Library operating hours and find the main entrance to Swartz Hall locked, please call the Circulation Desk at 617.495.5788
